The Breakfast Club

MamaJewels collaborates with The Breakfast Club. But what is The Breakfast Club? The Breakfast Club is a foundation that provides breakfast for children in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. These are children from slums who would otherwise be unable to attend school due to hunger. It's a program run by Dodore. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Such a breakfast breaks a vicious cycle and creates hope.

The Breakfast Club is also currently supporting a parish in Lviv province, Ukraine, by feeding the children of war refugees.

The Origin of The Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club was founded by a group of students from Utrecht University of Applied Sciences. One of those students was Soma, who is now the owner of MamaJewels. The teacher who supervises The Breakfast Club was already a volunteer at Dodore. She brought the idea to the school. Students could sign up to participate, raising awareness at the school and creating a motivated team. The foundation, established in 2017, ensures that 280 children between the ages of 3 and 10 have breakfast every day.

Visit to the Children

The Breakfast Club is a project that provides breakfast to underprivileged schoolchildren in poverty-stricken areas. We believe in providing them with the opportunity for education while providing them with the nutrition that helps their bodies and brains grow.

Research shows that free school meals can nourish both the brain and the body in three ways: it creates strong motivation to go to school, and providing meals increases school attendance. Second, appropriate nutrition is essential for brain development. Third, well-nourished children find it easier to concentrate, leading them to learn more when they do show up. Emerging evidence shows that providing meals at school boosts literacy and numeracy scores, and the improvements, especially for girls, are significant.

FEED THEM TODAY SO THEY CAN HAVE A TOMORROW

Encourage attendance and education by feeding a malnourished child. Join us in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
